My name is Gea, and I'm a 5-year-old black Labrador, about 56 pounds of pure love, even if I don't always show it right away. My foster humans say I'm a cuddle bug, and I guess that's true, once I feel safe. Being here is different from where I was. I was separated from my bonded sibling and now I'm very shy and a little bit scared of everything at first. I have a furry foster sibling in my new house that I'm not so fond of, so my foster isn't sure how I'll do with other dogs. She thinks we will need to try it out. Getting into my crate is still a bit of a production; I need a little nudge and some kind words. But honestly, the couch or a soft bed is way better and I've been told I don't need a crate anyways. I've learned that here, I can just nap and feel secure. Walks are my favorite, though! I trot along so nicely on my leash, not even batting an eye at other dogs or people...it's just not my business. But oh, a rabbit! My ears perk up, and a little flutter of excitement goes through me. Toys? Not so much. I'd rather spend my energy on discovering new smells or just being by my person's side. The car is another place where I need a little help. I get nervous just thinking about it. My foster humans have to pick me up to get me in, but once I'm settled, I'm a good girl. And getting out? That's easy peasy. Fireworks? Loud noises? They don't bother me one bit. I barely noticed them on the Fourth of July. What I really need is someone patient, someone who understands that I'm healing and learning to trust again. Someone who will give me a little time, and then they'll have a shadow, a furry friend who's finally ready to be a constant cuddle bug. I know I have so much love to give, I just need the right person to show it to.
