Cricket and Mochi have overcome so much and are finally ready for a forever home—together. These sweet, gentle, and loving girls are a bonded pair and have a story to tell. They arrived at a small rural Texas shelter when their owner entered a nursing home, and were part of a surrender of 10 dogs. Project Freedom Ride helped bring them to safety, and after multiple surgeries, dental work, and lots of TLC, these brave ladies are healthy, comfortable, and ready for their happily ever after.
Ideal Home
Cricket and Mochi are looking for a calm, stable home where they can continue to thrive together. A fenced yard is required, and they would do best in a home without small children. They are good with other dogs, preferring calm and respectful canine companions. They are also crate trained and 90% housebroken, though Mochi is still working on her house-training. They would not do well in an apartment setting as Cricket is still building leash confidence.
Ongoing Health
Mochi, a 7+ year old Wire-Haired Terrier Mix, is the confident half of this duo. She had several masses removed that were all benign, and while she may develop more in the future, she is currently happy and feeling great. She also has a heart murmur and is on medication, but is asymptomatic.
Cricket, an 8+ year old Chihuahua, is a gentle and sensitive soul. She arrived with a large hernia and a damaged eye, both of which have been successfully treated. She is now living pain-free.
Training & Support
Cricket is shy at first but warms up quickly, leaning on Mochi for confidence. Their bond is truly special and provides comfort, confidence, and security for both of them. They are a true pair and will only be adopted together.
