Evander

Evander is a distinguished gentleman of 12 years who has been patiently waiting for his perfect person. He arrived at the shelter in 2016 after a life as a stray, but his spirit has remained bright and full of love. Evander is a champion snuggler and a connoisseur of fine toys, especially his favorite piggie, which he enjoys hiding away for safekeeping. He's also quite adept at enthusiastically de-stuffing plush toys and seems very proud of his accomplishments. Once he feels secure, Evander reveals his goofy, expressive, and incredibly charming personality. He is deeply loyal and is looking for a patient, dog-savvy home that can provide slow introductions and clear boundaries. The wonderful news is that Evander can coexist with other dogs, provided introductions are very gradual and he receives a little guidance in developing social skills. Once he's settled, he's content to share his space and stay close to his humans. Evander isn't seeking a life of constant excitement; he desires comfort, consistency, and someone who can see the soft, silly soul beneath any initial reservations. All HSDC adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption.

Training & Support

Evander needs a little help learning social skills he never got the chance to develop. He can live with other dogs with very gradual introductions and guidance.
