Meet AlpenGlo. AlpenGlo Finnish Lapphunds – Est. 2022 At AlpenGlo Finnish Lapphunds, we are dedicated to raising confident, well-rounded Finnish Lapphunds that reflect the intelligence, resilience, and joyful spirit the breed is known for. Originally developed by the Sámi people of Lapland to herd reindeer, the breed is hardy, weatherproof, deeply loyal, and thrives when given both purpose and companionship. Our breeding program emphasizes sound temperament, structure, and versatility, producing dogs that can excel as active family companions as well as partners in performance sports, hiking adventures, and outdoor life. All breeding dogs in our program are health tested and DNA screened, and any stud dogs used are held to the same high standard. Health, temperament, and long-term breed preservation are always at the forefront of our decisions. Puppies are raised with a strong focus on early socialization, environmental exposure, and positive training foundations, helping them develop confidence, resilience, and stable temperaments as they grow. I have also spent over 30 years assisting my mother with her Bernese Mountain Dog breeding program, Taplac Bernese, gaining valuable hands-on experience raising and evaluating generations of dogs. Our foundation dog Winnie traces back to the town of Långas, reflecting the Scandinavian heritage that inspired our kennel name. At AlpenGlo, our goal is to raise Finnish Lapphunds that are capable, adaptable, and deeply connected to their people. We produce carefully planned, limited litters to ensure every puppy receives dedicated care and the best possible start in life.
