A special needs cutie pie, approximately 8 years old and weighing about 15 pounds, named Neo is ready to find his forever home! Neo was found near railroad tracks and received treatment for pneumonia during his time at animal control. He's now at Mostly Mutts, continuing to receive excellent care and doing much better, though he will require ongoing medication and care. Neo is a sweet, friendly, and gentle guy who loves to be with his people. He enjoys looking out the window and can be a little vocal when happy, often rolling around playfully on the floor. He's happy to snuggle in a lap or just be near you. Neo has a delightful and happy demeanor. His energy level is about a 4-6 out of 10.
Ideal Home
Neo gets along great with other dogs of all sizes and has learned to be calm around cats, though he'd likely do best in a home without other feline friends. He would thrive with older children, as younger children might startle him and risk a nip.
Ongoing Health
Neo has severe collapsing trachea, which causes him to cough frequently, and an enlarged heart. He is on lifelong prescription medications for these conditions. Due to his health challenges, he cannot have a dental cleaning, but there are over-the-counter dental care options that can be tried once approved by a vet. He is current on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered.
Training & Support
Neo knows what a harness means and responds when called. He used to know "sit" and "leave it" and would benefit from continued training. Mostly Mutts offers free lifetime training classes for adopted dogs. He is not crated in his foster home. His potty habits are improving with a consistent schedule and leash guidance. Neo loves his walks and playing with toys. He should not have extended outdoor time in hot and humid weather due to his health.
