Helen

Helen is an outgoing and enthusiastic dog who loves meeting new people, exploring, and playing! She's a medium-sized, short-haired female Pit Bull Terrier mix, about 4 years old, and she's already spayed and vaccinated. Helen knows how to "sit" and responds well to redirection. She can be a bit of a puller on leash, but she generally calms down easily and is good with everyday sights and sounds. Helen enjoys playtime and can sometimes jump up, but she's learning to keep all four paws on the floor. She's also smart and knows to trade toys or treats to avoid frustration.

Ideal Home

Helen would do well with children around 8 years old, on a case-by-case basis. She also seems like she could do well with other dogs, also on a case-by-case basis. We don't know how she would do with cats. Helen can become tense when handled while eating and prefers to turn away if touched during those times.

Ongoing Health

Helen is currently undergoing medical care, and her adoption will not be finalized until on or after June 26, 2026.

Training & Support

While Helen is a quick learner and responds to redirection, she can pull strongly on a leash. She also needs a little patience when it comes to handling around food. When meeting other dogs, she can start off a bit stiffly before warming up to rougher play.

Helen is located at the Lycoming County SPCA in Williamsport, PA. Transport may be available within a reasonable distance.
