About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male hound/retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. He's a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to please and is always looking for a cuddle. Comet was rescued from the streets and brought to a shelter in San Antonio, Texas, where his foster family saved him. He enjoys a good run and has a balanced playstyle. He gets along well with his female foster sibling and has shown no food or resource aggression. Comet has also been introduced to indoor cats and children, doing well with both. He is fully house, crate, and leash trained, and doesn't have accidents in the house. He sleeps through the night in his crate without a peep and doesn't pull on the leash. While he doesn't seem to have separation anxiety, he is crated when unsupervised due to a tendency to taste-test things. Comet can be a little wary of men, but with patience and consistency, he warms up quickly. He's a resilient and adaptable dog looking for his forever family.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with another dog to play and snuggle with. While he does well with cats and children, we recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older who can understand and respect animal behavior cues.

Ongoing Health

Comet has no known health conditions.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He is a quick learner and doesn't require harsh corrections. Patience and consistency are key to helping him feel comfortable around men.
