Adira

Adira is a approximately 2-year-old Shepherd/Malinois mix with a DOB of 9/21/21. She was surrendered to the shelter with two other dogs, initially too fearful to be touched. She became very ill shortly after arriving, exhibiting lethargy and vomiting, which led to an assessment for parvo. Treatment began immediately, and she was sent for overnight care, where it was discovered she had pyometra and multiple deceased fetuses. After surgery and recovery, Adira began to show interest in people and eat, a stark contrast to her condition just days before. Her previous owner was reportedly homeless and living out of their car, highlighting a difficult situation for both the dogs and the human involved. Despite the challenges, Adira has a strong will to survive and has bonded quickly with those who have cared for her. She is friendly, sweet, and submissive.

Ideal Home

Adira would do well in a home with another outgoing dog who can provide a positive example for her. She could also be a wonderful companion for a single person and can offer home protection once she bonds.

Ongoing Health

Adira underwent surgery for pyometra and the removal of deceased fetuses. She is now recovering and on the mend.

Training & Support

Adira is still building confidence. Having another dog in the home can help her learn and thrive. She is friendly and eager to bond, so patience and positive reinforcement will be key to her continued adjustment.
