Resilient refugee Leka came to Freedom Ride after being rescued from the abusive hands of his first owner in Albania. He found his way into the hearts of some locals who worked to get him out of his dismal situation and into the life he deserves. Despite the abuse and a very long plane ride, Leka has transitioned into American life quite nicely, with a smile! We are guessing his breed to be a Chihuahua and Beagle mix, but the jury is still out. Leka is around five years of age and thirteen pounds. Despite his negative interactions with humans, he still adores them. Leka lives with a female foster and instantly took to her. Leka recently spent a week with a male foster while his foster mom was on vacation, and he was besties with that gentleman by the second day, after being shown patience and kindness. Leka lives with two dogs, one that is large and boisterous and one that is a small senior. He does well with each of them. Leka has learned cat manners from his feline foster sister as well. Leka is fully potty trained and our prince is crated when his foster mom is out. He goes right in with a treat. He does like to sing his song when left alone for a few minutes, so apartment life may not be for him. Leka cannot get enough of his new squeaky toy collection. It's his favorite American thing, after walking his new neighborhood on his leash. Leka would do well in many family environments, and he is hoping you can help him complete his American dream, already in progress.
