Penelope

Welcome to Camp Cocker! This is Penelope, a sweet 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel who came to us from the Orange County shelter. Penelope had painful eyes and was determined to be blind, but she's since had a double eye enucleation and is feeling so much better!

Penelope is a confident, affectionate, and outgoing lap dog who truly adores people. She enjoys the company of other dogs but people are what really make her day. Every evening, she listens to the TV from her foster mom's lap before her potty break and then heads to bed, sleeping in her crate with a favorite toy. She communicates her needs with a variety of sounds, and while she might whimper to let you know she needs to potty in the morning, a few snorts and barks mean she's looking for some attention. She's not an avid barker, so shared walls should be just fine.

Ideal Home

Penelope would love a home with a fenced yard that has grass for sniffing. She also enjoys short walks to explore new smells once she gets to know you. While she likes playing with toys, she isn't interested in playing with other dogs. She would do well as the only dog in the house if someone is home frequently (she can go up to 6 hours without an accident and sleeps through the night), or with a mellow, lower-energy companion dog. A high-energy dog might make her uncomfortable due to the risk of accidental bumps since she can't see. Penelope dislikes being hugged and the loud noise from the vacuum.

Penelope is recovering from a double eye enucleation.
