Meet Longwood Lakes Miniature Dachshunds. We are Google Business 5 Star Rated Breeders on both our website as well as on Google Business platform located on Google Maps. Breeding dogs since 1988. Genetics are at the top of our priority list as we want to do our part to preserve this breed for future generations. Our next most important priority breeding is nutrition. We prepare all of our breeders meals which consist of fresh chicken, brown rice, and a variety of fruits and vegetables which vary depending upon the season. We add probiotics, ten different amino acids very beneficial to their health which their bodies are unable to produce accompanied with powdered vitamins and minerals in trace amounts. We occasionally replace the chicken with beef so as to not have them get bored with their daily diets. All of our dams are placed on special diets while nursing including four meals daily consisting of moisture rich foods, high quality proteins and omega 3 fatty acids. When we wean our puppies we prepare them a gruel which consists of raw ingredients high in protein along with formula, omega three fatty amino acids and trace amounts of vitamins and minerals. In both our eyes and hearts our miniature Dachshunds are more than just breeders. They are an extention of our family. We do not have kennels of any kind. All of our dogs reside in our home. Our whelping boxes are set up in our master bedroom so we can monitor the newborns closely the first few weeks. All of our puppies have had their first DAP vaccination which covers Distemper, Adenovirus (type 2 Hepatitis, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza. Tested for all four parasites (worms) as well as for single celled parasites such as various strains of coccidia. Our puppies are given full examinations by our vet and each of them are accompanied with FL health certificates. We also provide you with their vaccination schedule for the first year. Our puppies come with their AKC papers, five year health guarantees, 30 days of health insurance, microchipping, full breeding rights, a small flannel blanket with their mothers scent on it. We also offer personal delivery of our puppies to our clients who reside in FL at no additional cost. From week one through week eight we take pictures of each individual puppy every week and send them to their new families each Wed during those first eight weeks so that the families can keep up with their progress. You are also welcome to come visit them anytime during this time. All we ask is that you call 24 hours ahead of time so we can adjust our schedules accordingly. We begin bathing all of our puppies at four weeks of age so that by the time they go to their forever homes taking a bath is like second nature to them. We familiarized them with collars, harnesses, and leashes. We begin pad training them at four weeks of age. We do not housebreak them however by the time they go to their forever homes they have established that there is a designated spot in which to relieve themselves which makes the crate training process considerably easier. From weeks 4 - 8 our puppies go through an early socialization program consisting of introducing them to new people all ages, other pets including our pack of breeders, regular car rides, taking them to different environments, having them experience different sounds, and of course giving them as much love as is humanly possible.. Puppies gain an abundance of social skills from both their siblings and mother. The socialization we provide just better prepares them for their forever homes. We take tremendous pride in how loving and well adapted our puppies are.
