About Slim Jim
Meet Slim Jim (ACCT-A-253358)! This handsome pup found himself without a home when his owner moved and left him behind. Fortunately, a neighbor noticed and brought him to the shelter. He's understandably overwhelmed with his new circumstances, and he's trying his hardest to be brave. He truly seems to shine when other dogs are around, loosening up and seeming much more comfortable, so he may even enjoy a canine sibling!
If you have room in your home for a gentle, nervous boy who needs a new start, come meet Slim Jim today!

BEHAVIOR NOTES
Volunteer 6/21/26: Slim jim is shy and cautious, used treat lures to coax him out then he froze. Eventually he gets moving and once outside he loosens up. In yhe play yard he sniffed everything and learned to climb up to A frame for treats. Took treats nicely from my hand. He freezes at the chain link fence gates and took a lot of encouragement to return through the back gate but once inside went back to his kennel easily. He met Fable thru the fence, low tail wags and indifference. Sweet with me, seems to be improving.
Per volunteer 6/20/2026: Slim Jim was timid coming out of his kennel, but came around to seeking out pets and sitting with me. I went back to his kennel 3x throughout the day just to say hi and reinforce our positive interactions and he came up happily and sniffed and accepted treats from me.
Behavior eval 6/20/2026: Kennel Presentation: standing with ears pasted back, still body, moved away from The leash. Ate treats and was able to use a food lure to leash.
Leash Skills: used treat trail to exit kennel slowly, tucked tail. After a few steps stopped walking, carried to a quieter location and he walked the rest of the way. When walking outside kept a loose leash.
Sociability: tolerant, lowered head and body, low tail, soft eyes ears pasted back.
Play: did not do
Dog Interaction: met Fiona. Loose body, curious, tail wagging loosely
Return to Kennel: had to carry inside, and and pick up again and place in kennel (we walked through the admin hallway and not main kennels)
Color Level: blue
Recommendations and considerations: seems to relax around other dogs, may do best in a home with another dog
