About SAM

Sam, the man... is a 3.5-year-old German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix. He's found himself looking for his forever home for the second time, but we're confident that with the right family and no cats, he'll make your heart sing! Sam is an extremely well-mannered boy, although he does have a strong prey drive for cats, chickens, squirrels, and other small creatures. He is both crate and house-trained and is great with adults and children. He also gets along well with other dogs, though we don't know how he'd do with smaller breeds. Sam is a smart cookie who enjoys training sessions and knows "sit," "stay," and "bang" (play dead!). He would benefit from further training, especially with leash manners, as he pulls hard. Sam loves backyard time and needs about 30 minutes of fun, in addition to his twice-daily walks. Like any German Shepherd, Sam is protective of his family and will initially bark at strangers, but he has never been aggressive towards people.

Ideal Home

We're looking for a family that can provide Sam with regular exercise and attention. Experience with German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, or other powerful breeds is preferred. He absolutely cannot live in a home with cats.

Ongoing Health

No specific health conditions are noted.

Training & Support

Sam is already crate and house-trained. He would benefit from continued training, particularly on leash manners as he tends to pull hard. He is a smart dog who enjoys learning and practicing commands.
