Future intakes are unpredictable, but we often receive wonderful middle-aged or senior dogs from owners facing difficult circumstances. These dogs are typically well-behaved and well-cared-for, making them true treasures for their new families. We consider both male and female dogs, though we do tend to have a higher intake of males.
Ideal Home
We're looking for homes that can provide a loving and stable environment. While many Bouviers are good with other dogs, some may not get along well with dogs of the same gender, and a few require being the only dog in the home. Homes with cats require extreme vigilance and careful introductions, as Bouviers can be wary of felines. We rarely place dogs in homes with children under 5 years old, as very young children often require more supervision than is practical for most families.
Ongoing Health
All dogs are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations before placement. We are always candid about any special needs a dog may have, whether physical or behavioral. Dogs from puppy mills or backyard breeders may be more prone to health and behavioral issues.
Training & Support
Most Bouviers are good with older, dog-savvy children who are supervised by adults. We emphasize that a dog's behavior is significantly influenced by their environment and the people they live with. We believe that with the right guidance and training, most dogs can thrive.
