Maverick is a carrier for DCM, von Willebrand’s, and Toxicosis. Being a carrier means he has one copy of the gene but does not have the disease. Because Lulu is completely clear, she cannot pass any affected genes to the puppies. It takes two copies of a recessive gene for a dog to be affected, so this pairing cannot produce affected puppies.
