Addie is a 4.5-year-old, spayed female pitbull terrier mix who weighs around 45 pounds. She was rescued from the streets of Houston, Texas, where she had a tough start to life, suffering from mange and being underweight. Despite her past struggles, Addie is a sweet and gentle soul who is eager to learn and embrace her new life as a beloved house dog. She's a willing pupil and is already showing great promise in her foster home. Addie is crate trained and sleeps through the night in her kennel. While she's still perfecting her house-training skills, she hasn't had any accidents when given the freedom to roam. She enjoys her foster's company and is quickly learning to trust and love.
Ideal Home
Addie would thrive in a home that can provide her with daily walks of 20-30 minutes, twice a day, and a yard where she can run and explore. She would love to have a male dog sibling of similar size (40-60 lbs) to cuddle with and sleep next to. Addie is embracing her "Soft Life Era" and would appreciate plenty of comfortable couches to lounge on. While she may do well with older children who understand animal behavior, homes with younger children should be prepared for supervised interactions until everyone is well-acquainted.
Ongoing Health
Addie has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Addie is learning to be a house dog and may have occasional accidents as she settles into a new routine. She is very food-motivated and will try to eat other dogs' food, so feeding her separately is recommended. She is getting better at understanding that she will receive her own meals. While she is not overly playful, she enjoys interacting with male dogs of equal to larger size and is learning to respect their cues. She is curious about female dogs but hasn't found a playmate yet.
