Cricket and Mochi, a bonded pair of sweet, gentle, and loving senior girls, have overcome so much and are finally ready for a forever home—together. Fostered in Evans, GA, these resilient pups came to rescue when their owner had to enter a nursing home, leading to their surrender to a small rural Texas shelter. After multiple surgeries, dentals, and lots of TLC, Cricket and Mochi are healthy, comfortable, and ready for their happy ending, always together.
Mochi is a 7+ year old, 14 lb Wire-Haired Terrier Mix with a permanently grumpy little face that hides a calm, affectionate cuddle bug. She's the confident one of the duo, quietly watching over Cricket. Mochi had several benign masses removed and is currently happy and feeling great. She also has a heart murmur and is on medication, but is asymptomatic. Mochi loves frozen Kongs and is great on leash.
Cricket is an 8+ year old, 13 lb Chihuahua who is a gentle, sensitive soul. She arrived with a large hernia and a damaged eye, both now successfully treated, and she is finally living pain-free. Cricket is shy at first but once she trusts you, she melts into soft affection and belly rubs. She leans on Mochi for confidence, and their bond is truly special. Cricket loves bully sticks and prefers shredded chicken mixed with kibble.
Ideal Home
These girls are looking for a calm, stable home where they can continue to thrive together. A fenced yard is required as Cricket is still building leash confidence and they cannot live in an apartment. Ideally, they would not be placed with small children. They do well with dog-friendly, calm, and respectful dogs. They are 90% housebroken, with Mochi being a bit slower to catch on. They are also crate trained.
Ongoing Health
Mochi had several masses removed that were all benign. She may develop more in the future, but is currently happy and feeling great. She also has a heart murmur and is on medication but is asymptomatic. Cricket had a large hernia and a damaged eye, both of which have been successfully treated.
Training & Support
Cricket is still building leash confidence. Mochi seems to be slower to catch on with housebreaking.
