Meet Shadow!
Shadow is an approximately 2.5-year-old handsome, athletic boy weighing around 65-70 pounds. He's a wonderful mix of German Shepherd, American Staffordshire Terrier, and American Pit Bull Terrier, with perhaps a few other breeds in the mix. This combination gives him the intelligence and loyalty of a shepherd, along with the affectionate and people-oriented nature of bully breeds. Shadow is a big personality dog with an even bigger heart. He's goofy, hilarious, expressive, and quite talkative, always letting you know his opinions with funny noises, dramatic looks, or full-body wiggles. He's aware he's a big, strong dog and can sometimes be a lovable wrecking ball without realizing it! Despite his silliness, Shadow is incredibly smart and obedient, forming deep bonds with his people. He thrives on companionship and wants to be involved in everything you do – walks, car rides, patio time, errands, or just lounging on the couch. He's very food motivated, eager to learn, and responds well to redirection and structure. He walks nicely on leash and can usually be redirected from distractions. Shadow is social with people and generally does well with other dogs. However, in highly stimulating situations, especially around reactive dogs, he can become overstimulated and might get involved if his attention isn't quickly redirected. He's not usually the instigator, but he needs guidance through exciting moments.
Ideal Home
Shadow would do best with an adopter who understands structure, dog behavior, boundaries, and how to manage arousal levels and overstimulation. He needs an active home that can provide both physical exercise and mental stimulation.
Ongoing Health
Shadow is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.
Training & Support
Shadow is an intelligent dog who needs mental stimulation to prevent boredom. If under-stimulated, he may get into mischief, like helping himself to unattended food on counters. Consistent supervision, enrichment toys, and ongoing training are important.
