Iris

Iris is a beautiful 1-year-old Standard Poodle with a heart full of hope and a past that desperately needs healing. She's a large girl, weighing in at 44 lbs, and possesses a medium energy level, though her true potential for playfulness is still unfolding. Iris and many other dogs were rescued from horrific conditions of cruelty and neglect, living in filth with no proper care for an extended period. This meant severe matting and painful coats that had been ignored for far too long. When she was rescued, Iris was terrified, not understanding that help had arrived. She required sedation just to be groomed, and while she felt physical relief, her emotional journey is still ongoing. Every day, Iris takes small steps forward, but she has a long road ahead to learn to trust and relax. Animatch hopes she will one day discover how to simply be a dog, to feel safe, clean, loved, and protected.
