Trapper

Trapper is a brave 1.5-year-old, 50lb Hound/Shepherd mix who has overcome incredible hardship. He survived for weeks with a claw trap on his paw before being rescued and coming to us for care. Thankfully, he's made a full recovery and is now thriving in his foster home. Trapper is house-trained, knows how to use a doggie door, and gets along well with other dogs. He currently lives with cats and does well, though a cat-savvy home or supervised introductions would be ideal. He can be a little shy, particularly around men, and loud noises can startle him.

Ideal Home

Trapper would do best in a quieter home environment, preferably with older children, if any. He loves having a safe space like a crate or hideout area, and is learning to build confidence with doorways. A securely fenced yard is a must as he is still learning leash skills and doesn't yet walk confidently on a leash.

Ongoing Health

Trapper has fully recovered from the amputation of two toes on his paw due to an injury from a trap.

Training & Support

Trapper is house-trained and uses a doggie door. He is still gaining confidence with walking on a leash and with doorways. He enjoys toys for comfort and often carries one around. He has a charming habit of pawing at you when he wants attention. Trapper should be fed separately from other animals, such as in his crate, to ensure a stress-free mealtime.
