Dagger is a 6.5-month-old spayed female Retriever/Pit Bull mix who currently weighs 40 pounds and is expected to be a large dog when fully grown. She was rescued with her mom and littermates from a rural dumping area. Dagger has a distinctive dagger-shaped white marking on her neck, which is how she got her name. She has transitioned from puppy nibbles to sweet, affectionate love bites. Dagger is an energetic and playful pup who also loves to cuddle. She is a talented escape artist, so her future family should be mindful of her cleverness. Dagger is curious, confident, and social, always the last to leave the fun. She is friendly with strangers, enjoys playing with other dogs, and has done well with children.
Ideal Home
Dagger would thrive in a home that can provide ongoing positive reinforcement and consistency to help her mature into a well-rounded adult. Due to her athleticism and escape artistry, a secure enclosure is a must. She also prefers homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time. Dagger would benefit greatly from a home with another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor her. If you don't currently have a dog, a proactive plan for continued socialization, such as training classes or playdates, is essential.
Ongoing Health
Dagger is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. As she is still a young dog, she will continue to grow and develop.
Training & Support
Dagger is potty trained but is still very much an adolescent and learning about the world. Continued leash practice and positive reinforcement are recommended. Socialization with new people, places, and friendly dogs is crucial for building her lifelong confidence. A resident dog would be ideal to help teach her appropriate play and communication.
