Huey is a handsome, athletic, and personable 2-year-old boy who likely has some Labrador in his lineage. Weighing in at 56 lbs, he's a mid-size dog with incredibly expressive ears that seem to catch every sound. Huey has been in a loving foster home, where he's honed his skills and is ready for his forever family. Unlike puppies, with a rescue dog like Huey, you get a clearer picture of his personality, making the transition smoother. He's a smart and motivated dog who thrives with confident leadership and clear boundaries. Huey is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows how to relax indoors. He loves to be close to his people, often following them around like a quiet shadow, content just to be near.
Ideal Home
Huey is not suited for apartment living. He needs a home with a yard where he can run and play freely. He is still working on his leash manners in busy environments, so a fast-paced city life is not ideal for him. While he has successfully lived with children and other dogs in the past, Huey would prefer a home without children for the long term, though he'd likely enjoy visits from them. He also thrives in a calm and structured environment.

Huey's veterinary care includes vaccinations, deworming, flea and heartworm prevention, and microchipping. His adoption fee contributes to these expenses.
Training & Support
Huey is very smart and responds well to confident leadership. He has learned to settle indoors and is house-trained. He does exhibit resource guarding around food when other dogs are present. This is easily managed by feeding him separately, such as in his crate, and avoiding offering treats or table scraps to any dogs in the home. A single-dog household would also eliminate this concern.

Huey is currently located in Texas and can be transported to various locations, including parts of the US and Canada. Transport options include a USDA licensed semi-truck for the PNW route and a private van or bus for the East Coast route, both equipped with air conditioning and dedicated care.
