Hi, I'm Baxter! I was found as a stray in Kern County, California, and after a bit of a journey, I landed in a loving foster home in Tucson, Arizona. Life as a stray clearly prepared me for anything, and I've settled into foster life like a pro. I love to play and wrestle with my toys, and I'm a big fan of fetch. When I'm done playing, I'm happiest curled up next to my people, supervising their activities. I'm a creature of habit, with a very precise morning routine involving multiple trips outside and breakfast. I'm very food-motivated, which makes training a breeze, though I do get a little overexcited when breakfast is being prepared! My foster family finds my quirks endlessly entertaining, like my love for slippers only when they're on a foot, my habit of ear and toe licking, and my famous "froggy stance" when I get scratched just right. When it's time for bed, I sleep in the most unusual, upside-down positions, looking so comfortable you might wonder if I'm actually alive!
Ideal Home
I do well with kids and many dogs. I generally do best with dogs around my size who have easygoing personalities. I need a leader and someone who will listen to the guidance of the rescue and my foster family.
Ongoing Health
I am vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. I sailed through my neuter surgery and have shown no signs of any medical issues.
Training & Support
I am potty trained and listen well to my humans. I am very food motivated, which makes training straightforward. I benefit from slow introductions with other dogs, clear boundaries, and humans who can help me continue building good habits.
