Meet Chanel, a resilient 3 to 4-year-old terrier mix who has blossomed into an energetic, happy dog. She survived a heartbreaking start after being abandoned in a crowded New Mexico shelter, where she was terrified and completely shut down. We brought her to Texas to give her a second chance, and she has truly come out of her shell! She even donates blood to save other lives in need, truly making her a hero. While her transformation is incredible, she is still learning to trust and is looking for a patient family to help her rebuild her faith in humanity.
Ideal Home
Chanel is searching for a patient family and a canine companion to help her learn to trust again. She enjoys toys and balls, particularly soft squeakers, but can be easily startled by loud noises and is still figuring out how to play with them. She will need a gentle, understanding environment where she can take things at her own pace and finally discover what it feels like to be truly safe.
Ongoing Health
Chanel is healthy and up-to-date on all vetting, including DAPP, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, spay/neuter, flea prevention, heartworm testing and prevention, and micro-chipping.
Training & Support
Chanel is still working through past trauma and can be quite flinchy when hands reach toward her. She needs continued patience and understanding from her forever family. She is socialized through playgroups and one-on-one bonding, and receives leash training and basic command practice. Our goal is to adopt to families who understand that she is a rescue dog and will require continued training efforts, but she will be well on her way to being the best dog she can be!

Transportation
Chanel is currently in Texas and is available for transportation to VA, PA, CT, VT, NY, UT, ID, OR, TX, WA, TN, KY, IN, IL, WI, MN, and OH. AZ is coming soon! Transportation ranges from $100-500, with private custom transport routes and destinations available upon request. Texas adopters have a $250 flat rate fee for transportation within the state. Our transport vehicles are equipped with air conditioning and onboard attendants providing 24-hour care. You will have the opportunity to follow along on their journey through a private Facebook event page. Our Adoption Coordinator will help to find the closest transport pick-up location to you.
