About Tiger in OH - Loves Ear Scratches & Steak!
Tiger is a gentle, quiet Great Pyrenees who has come such a long way on his journey to finding his forever home. Tiger originally came from a hoarding situation where he had little socialization with people, but thanks to the patience and love of his foster family, he has blossomed into a calm, well-mannered companion who is ready for the next chapter of his life. He carries himself with quiet grace - he very rarely barks, never jumps on people or furniture, and has zero behavioral issues of any kind. He is fully housebroken, leash trained, and crate trained, and while he doesn't yet know formal commands, he has wonderful recall and reliably comes inside or heads outside when asked. His foster family describes him as extremely well mannered. Inside, Tiger loves to settle onto his dog bed and keep a peaceful eye on the household happenings. Outside, he transforms into a playful, bouncy companion, romping happily in the yard with his two Golden Retriever foster siblings, whom he absolutely adores. Playing with dogs is truly Tiger's greatest joy! He also enjoys walks, being brushed, gentle affection (like ear scratches!), and delicious treats like steak, cheese, and peanut butter! Tiger also shares his foster home with nine chickens, which he regards with polite curiosity and nothing more. He is similarly gentle and curious around cats, mostly ignoring them. Because of his past, Tiger is still learning that people are safe and loving. He won't approach strangers right away - he'll watch from a comfortable distance, taking everything in with his soulful eyes - but he is curious and attentive, and his foster family believes that with time and patience, his affection will grow. He is very predictable and has never given anyone cause for concern.
Ideal Home
Tiger would do best in a calm, peaceful environment. He would do best with calm, older children who understand the importance of giving a shy dog his space. Tiger's ideal home is one with at least one other dog to show him the ropes, keep him company, and play with him in the yard. His future family should have some experience with unsocialized dogs, be willing to give him space while gently showing him what love looks like, and understand that his trust may be earned slowly. Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
Ongoing Health
Tiger is a healthy boy with no known ongoing health issues.
