Meet Layla!

Layla is a stunning 5-year-old pup with a gorgeous, light brown coat, big, upright ears that practically demand ear scratches, and a heart full of love, just waiting for the right family. We think she might be a Shepherd-Pitty mix, but with rescue, it's always a guess, but one thing is certain: she's one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet. Layla is a little shy at first and takes her time warming up to new people. But once she trusts you, her tail wags, her eyes sparkle, and she showers that person with quiet, devoted affection. Her foster has proven that with a little patience and love, Layla will absolutely learn to trust and adore her humans. She's a gentle soul, the kind of dog who will curl up next to you, soak up pets, and quietly remind you that love does not always need words.

Ideal Home

Layla is happiest in a home where she can decompress, feel safe, and let her personality shine at her own pace. She would do best with older children around 8 and up due to her sensitivity to new people and touch. If your household has kids, a "kid test" can be arranged to ensure everyone is comfortable. She thrives with a canine companion and would do beautifully in a calm home with a calm, aloof male dog who can help her feel safe and confident. A cat-tolerant home where kitties mind their business is also ideal. While she may need a little leash confidence in new places, she can adapt to apartment living once settled.

Ongoing Health

Layla is up to date on all vetting, which includes DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable. She has also had a heartworm test and treatment if needed.

Training & Support

Layla is a little shy at first and takes her time warming up to new people and touch. She may need some help building leash confidence in new environments. Our team assesses every animal with trainers on staff and modifies behavior as needed, creating individualized plans to help prepare dogs for their future families, including crate training, potty training, and leash walking.

Transportation

Layla is located in Texas but can be transported nationwide using our rescue's USDA-certified transport system. Drop-off locations include WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (with pickup options in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters). You will be able to track her journey in real time and receive photo updates. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
