Meet Django!
This bright two-year-old mixed breed, weighing about 50 pounds, is a smart and active companion with a sleek black coat and white accents. Django builds deep bonds with his people and celebrates their return home with unmatched enthusiasm! He's a dog who thrives with both connection and purpose. When he feels safe and comfortable, his affectionate side shines through with cuddles and cozy naps.
Adventure is also a big part of Django's life. He adores toys of all kinds, especially those for a game of fetch. Walks, runs, and even swimming are activities he thoroughly enjoys, and he proudly carries a stick or ball as if it's his special job. Django's intelligence is evident in his love for training and learning. He already knows many cues, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, no bark, and ok as a release cue. Practicing these skills with positive reinforcement keeps his mind engaged and happy.
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter, child-free, and cat-free home, likely as the only dog. An active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys training will be a great fit for him.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
Training & Support
Django experiences fear-based reactivity in certain situations, feeling uncertain around unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, or other dogs encountered on leash. This requires thoughtful management in public and benefits from a predictable routine and continued behavior support with an experienced pet parent. He also has a history of resource guarding with another dog around food, toys, or personal space, and there was one minor nip incident involving an unfamiliar person. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him to warm up helps him feel secure. With structure, exercise, and patient guidance, he continues to grow in confidence.
