Aspen is a happy, sweet, cuddly, loving, energetic, smart, eager-to-please, gentle, and playful boy with a big personality in a small body! He arrived with us as part of a hoarding case and was exposed to distemper, but has thankfully shown no signs of illness and is considered healthy and no longer infectious. He's a young pup with a lot of love to give and is eager to find his forever family. Aspen loves to cuddle and will settle in with you after a little bit, happy just to be by your side. He's very playful and has even been known to get older, grumpier dogs to join in on the fun! He's still learning about toys but is a big fan of chasing anything you throw, though he's still mastering the "fetch" part. Aspen is very energetic and loves exploring the yard, but he will settle down after some exercise. His eyes tell you what a good, sweet boy he is, and his exuberance for everything and expressive face are truly heartwarming. He has the cutest little "awoos" when you come home and greets you with full-body wiggles and adorable, Disney-cartoon-like expressions. He's housetrained with a dog door and is crate trained, especially with a treat incentive. We are working on his leash manners and training.
Ideal Home
Aspen would do best in a home with a person or family willing to make him a big part of their lives. He would thrive with at least one other confident dog to help guide him. Since everything is new to him coming from a rural hoarding situation, he will need patience as he adjusts, but he is bright and eager to learn.
Ongoing Health
Aspen was exposed to distemper but has shown no signs of illness and is considered healthy and no longer infectious.
Training & Support
Aspen is crate trained and housetrained (with a dog door). We are currently working on his manners and leash training. He is eager to please and will learn with patience and consistency.
