Chido

Chido is a charming 4-year-old, 63lb American Bulldog mix with a heart full of love. Despite a difficult past on the streets of Houston, Chido remains incredibly trusting and gentle, making friends easily with people and animals alike. He has a particular soft spot for cats and is generally good with children and most dogs. Chido enjoys short walks, playing with his toys, and plenty of naps. He is a loyal companion who thrives on companionship and needs a patient household.

Ideal Home

Chido would do best in a home where someone works from home or is retired, as he suffers from separation anxiety and needs a constant companion. He is an indoor dog and deserves a loving home environment.

Ongoing Health

Chido is currently heartworm positive and is on a slow-kill medication, HartGuard, a low-cost monthly pill. He will need annual testing to monitor his heartworm status. He also experiences occasional hip arthritis, likely due to an old injury. While this hasn't occurred recently, he may need hip massages and rest when it flares up. X-rays show inflammation but no fractures.

Training & Support

Chido walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained. He can be dog selective and may be sensitive to other dogs being overly assertive. He is frightened by loud noises like thunder, lightning, and fireworks and will need comfort and reassurance during these times.
