Manchego

Meet Manchego! This charming Dutch Shepherd and Basset Hound mix was born in January 2022 and weighs in at 45 lbs. Manchego is a curious and playful pup with a slightly coy side. He was surrendered to a shelter with his siblings and was rescued by The Barking Lot in January 2025, just in time to avoid euthanasia. He's a social boy with other dogs and is friendly with children! His low-riding legs are just one of his many endearing qualities.

Ideal Home

Manchego would thrive in a patient home with a single person or a couple who can help him gain confidence in the world around him. He needs a little practice with leash walking and meeting new people, as he can be a bit shy at first, but with gentle guidance, he'll become your most reliable sidekick.

Ongoing Health

Manchego is neutered and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He has no known health conditions.

Training & Support

While Manchego is friendly with dogs and children, he's a bit shy when meeting new people and needs some guidance on leash walking. With patience and positive reinforcement, he'll blossom into a confident companion.

Transporation

Manchego is located in San Diego County, CA. We happily consider out-of-town applications and can arrange virtual meet-and-greets. We offer monthly transport to various locations in the Pacific Northwest. For other locations in the US and Canada, individual transport arrangements would need to be made.
