Chuppa is a handsome 1-year-old, 60-pound purebred velvet hippo who is stocky, surprisingly fast, and ready to find his forever human. He is a sweet, silly, and snuggly boy who loves hard and is looking for a loyal human, a cozy couch, and someone who understands that personal space is wildly overrated. Once Chuppa decides you are his person, he will be your full-time shadow, emotional support hippo, and personal fan club president. He is affectionate, goofy, and devoted to the people he trusts.
Chuppa can be a little unsure of new people and may bark to protect his household, viewing anything from the mailman to a leaf as suspicious. However, he is easily bribed with a tasty treat and ready to be best friends. He does well with other dogs after slow introductions and currently lives with three. Chuppa would love a family who can help him build confidence and feel secure that there is enough love to go around.
His hobbies include zoomies, cuddling with his whole body, following his person from room to room, playing with his food bowl, accepting snacks as payment for friendship, and ensuring you never feel lonely. Chuppa’s ideal day involves a walk, playtime, snacks, and a world-class cuddle session.

Chuppa is house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. He comes with two training classes to help you learn good leash skills and how to be a great leader. Our rescue provides lifetime support by phone or in person.
