Meet Michelle! This charming 3-year-old spayed female Staffordshire Terrier mix, weighing around 48 pounds, is currently enjoying life in a foster home in Houston, Texas. She was rescued from euthanasia at a high-kill shelter and is now eagerly awaiting her second chance at a loving forever family. Michelle is incredibly friendly, affectionate, and social, especially with other dogs. She loves to play and nap with her doggy foster siblings, and while she can get a little enthusiastic, she's great at reading their cues and adjusting her play. Outside, she has plenty of energy for running, but inside, she's a mellow companion who knows when it's time to settle down and snooze. Michelle has a sweet and loving nature with children ages 8 and up, but due to her excited jumping, a home with kids 12+ or dog-savvy teens would be ideal.
Ideal Home
Michelle would thrive in a home with another friendly dog and a family that can offer her love, structure, and playtime. A home with children 12+ or dog-savvy younger teens would be best. A securely fenced yard or consistent leash walks are a must, as she is an escape artist.
Ongoing Health
Michelle is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Michelle is fully housebroken and crate trained, even choosing to rest in her crate during the day. She is food motivated and a quick learner, but she does try to sneak food from others, so she's fed separately and benefits from guidance during snack times. She responds well to redirection. While she walks fairly well on leash, she tends to pull, and continued leash training will help her improve. She also enjoys chewing, especially on outdoor items, so supervision and crate time when unsupervised are important.
