Morgan is a handsome young dog with a big heart, ready to charm his way into your life! He was rescued from Greece with a severe jaw injury that required extensive surgery to repair. This experience has left him with a unique and endearing smile, as part of his lower lip is missing, often leaving his tongue peeking out. He's a quick learner, eager to please, and loves being part of the family's activities, whether it's snuggling on the couch or keeping you company while you do chores. Morgan is also very food-motivated and enjoys puzzles to keep his mind engaged.
Ideal Home
Morgan would thrive in a home that understands and can manage his high prey drive. While he's generally good with other dogs, he can be a bit rambunctious, so a calm female dog or an only-dog household would be ideal. He hasn't been exposed to children, but with proper introductions, he might do well with older children. However, his excitement and tendency to jump could be overwhelming for younger kids. He needs a home with at least a 6-foot physical fence, as an invisible fence will not be considered. Due to his reactivity towards some dogs, he is not a candidate for dog parks and would need a carefully managed introduction to new canine friends.
Ongoing Health
Morgan is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention. He has no health concerns with his mouth, but he does have a high prey drive. As he originates from Greece, where Leishmaniasis is endemic, he will require annual testing for the next seven years. Potential adopters must be willing to commit to this ongoing testing.
Training & Support
Morgan is making great progress with house-training and is learning commands quickly with a trainer. He is still working on leash manners, as he pulls and is easily distracted by moving objects. A no-pull harness and continued training will be beneficial. While he's generally well-behaved in the house and crate, he's not fond of his crate unless there's thunder. He may bark for a short period when left alone, but he settles down. Past reports of resource guarding of toys have been noted, and while he's improved significantly with supervision, continued positive reinforcement training in this area is recommended.

Transporation
Morgan is located in Kalamazoo, MI. Volunteer transport is available within a 1,000-mile radius of the foster home for US-based adopters. If you are more than 1,000 miles away, you will need to drive the additional distance. Canadian adopters must pick up their dog in the USA, as transport outside the US is not provided.
