A little about them
Meet Pippa, an adorable 8-month-old Texas Heeler—an Australian Shepherd/Heeler mix—who weighs approximately 35–40 pounds. She is smart, athletic, funny, energetic, and eager to learn.
Pippa loves roughhousing with her foster brothers, racing around the backyard, chewing on antlers, and taking intense naps. She plays hard, sleeps hard, and may football-tackle dogs or people when excited. New stores, walking areas, and dogs can initially make her timid, but patience, consistency, and positive experiences will help her become a wonderful adventure companion.
Ideal Home
Pippa would thrive with active humans and another playful dog who enjoys her rough-and-tumble style. Children should be at least 10 years old because of her strength and exuberance. She previously lived with a cat and ignored it, but she becomes excited by small animals on walks, so cat introductions should be slow and careful.
Ongoing Health
Pippa is vaccinated and spayed/neutered. She weighs approximately 35–40 pounds. A $20 microchip transfer fee is required to register and transfer her microchip to her new family.
Training & Support
Pippa is fully housebroken and crate trained. She sleeps in her crate and stays there when her humans are away. She is progressing with leash training and must use secure, escape-proof walking equipment because she may become a flight risk when startled or excited.
Pippa uses a slow-feeder bowl and eats in her crate. She is practicing “wait” and learning to take treats gently. She may mouth hands and arms, so her adopter should continue working on her manners.
