Teresa is a loving, gentle, and intelligent girl who has been patiently waiting for a real family to call her own. She is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 42 lbs. Teresa is sociable and enjoys the company of people, not being aggressive or uncomfortable around strangers. While she may initially seem cautious and shy, this stems from a fear of rejection. Once she feels safe, her true affectionate, playful, and attention-loving personality shines through. She absolutely adores being petted and happily seeks out cuddles.
Teresa's story is one of resilience. She was found tied to a tree with a wire that had already cut deeply into her neck. Despite her severe injuries and the ticks covering her, she never resisted, seemingly understanding she was finally safe. After being rescued, treated, and healed, the scar on her neck never affected her sweet spirit. She has proven to be a wonderful, obedient, affectionate, and very smart dog.
Ideal Home
Teresa would thrive in a home with a fenced backyard, an active family that enjoys outdoor activities, and individuals with a genuine intention to rescue a dog and an open conscience about the needs of street animals. She needs a family with experience in dog behavior and training or a willingness to hire a trainer. Patience and high tolerance are essential, as she is not house-trained.
Ongoing Health
Teresa has been spayed, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and microchipped. She has tested negative for heartworm and 4DX. She receives monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccine booklet are available. The injury from her past left a scar on her neck, but it does not affect her spirit.
Training & Support
Teresa is not fully house-trained and will require patience and understanding as she adjusts. She walks on a leash with guidance and can be crated for transport, though she may be nervous initially before settling down. Her rescuers emphasize that rescued dogs may have fears and anxieties and need time to adapt, making patience and understanding crucial for building trust.
