Vaquero

Vaquero is a charming 5-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix, weighing in at 46 lbs, who is ready to find his forever home. He was discovered in October 2025 near Edinburg, Texas, in a sorry state with severe mange and malnourishment. It's a miracle he survived, but Vaquero has made a remarkable recovery! He's transformed from a timid, fearful dog into a happy and affectionate companion who loves interacting with people.

Ideal Home

Vaquero would do wonderfully in a home with older, gentle children. He enjoys relaxing and cuddling, making him the perfect "Netflix and chill" buddy. He also gets along splendidly with other dogs of all sizes and has shown to be fine with cats.

Ongoing Health

Vaquero has no long-term health effects from his past ordeal. He has been neutered, is heartworm negative, and is up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and dewormer. He will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian before transport.

Training & Support

Vaquero is house-trained. He's a good boy who just needs a loving family to give him the chance he deserves.

Transporation

Vaquero is currently in a temporary foster sanctuary along the Texas/Mexico border. While we are located in Texas, we do not adopt animals within the state due to the high euthanasia rates. We exclusively adopt to the Central US and East Coast. The adoption fee of $395 includes transport from Texas to the following locations every 2-3 weeks (specific areas may vary based on adopter demand):

• Port Chester, NY
• Dayton and Akron, OH
