Gina is a 8-month-old spayed female Belgian Malinois mix, weighing 56lbs. She was found abandoned in a cardboard box by the side of a busy road as a tiny puppy, but thanks to her foster family, she's now ready to find her forever home! Gina is a playful pup who loves her doggy foster siblings and enjoys a good game of tug-of-war. She's a little wary of unfamiliar dogs, especially larger ones, due to a past negative experience, so slow introductions are recommended. She gets along well with small dogs under 15 lbs and large dogs over 75 lbs in her current foster home. Gina is enthusiastic about neighborhood kitties, so a cat-free home is best.
Ideal Home
Gina would do best in an active home with a family that understands how to raise a big, energetic pup. She would thrive with a family with older, dog-savvy children (10 and up) as she can be jumpy when excited. She would also be happy with a couple or someone living alone, as long as they can provide her with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Having another dog in the home would be beneficial for companionship and to help her burn off energy. A home without cats is preferred.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are noted.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and is working on house training, with no accidents when crated for up to 8 hours. She walks well on a leash and shows no signs of separation anxiety. She is currently in the "puppy velociraptor stage" and needs guidance on appropriate chewing. Regular socialization, positive training, and plenty of outlets for exercise, play, and enrichment are recommended.
