Loki

Loki is a spirited 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix who's ready to bring boundless joy and laughter into your home! Weighing around 40 pounds, he's expected to grow into a large, handsome dog, much like his mom, Wanda, who weighs about 55 pounds. Loki and his littermates were rescued from a tough situation in the Texas woods, but they've since blossomed in a loving foster home, growing up safe, cherished, and full of personality.

Loki is the epitome of a fearless adventurer! He's the first to explore anything new and isn't shy about letting everyone know he's around with his big, confident bark. He approaches life with a curiosity and a zest for fun that's infectious. His favorite activities include scaling furniture like a pro parkour champion and orchestrating epic games of keep-away with his toys. He's also known for his charming habit of waking everyone up for playtime, believing every moment is the perfect time for fun! Now that he's growing up, Loki balances his playful energy with a sweet, companionable side. He's already potty trained, though a few adjustments will be expected as he settles into a new routine. While he's generally bold, he can be a little hesitant with completely new experiences, but this passes quickly as he realizes everything is safe. His love for food means he's always at the front of the line for a treat! After a day of excitement, Loki transforms into the ultimate snuggle buddy, content to cuddle up with his favorite people. He adores people and other dogs and has a wonderful way of greeting everyone like they're the highlight of his day. He's done well in a crate for periods and has interacted positively with children. He's still working on his leash skills and basic obedience, but he's an eager learner.

Ideal Home

Loki is looking for a family committed to guiding him through his adolescent stage. He thrives with positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued socialization. Because he's still learning about the world, we believe he'd benefit greatly from having another friendly, well-mannered dog in the home to help teach him appropriate play, communication, and boundaries. If you don't currently have a dog, we'd love to hear your plan for ensuring he gets plenty of socialization through structured training classes, supervised daycare, or regular playdates with trusted dogs. Loki also does best in a home where someone is not routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time, as he benefits from regular interaction, potty breaks, exercise, and training.

Training & Support

Loki is potty trained but may have a few accidents as he adjusts to a new home. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Continued positive reinforcement, consistency, and socialization are key to his development.
