A little about them
Moki is a sweet, mellow 13-year-old Terrier Mix weighing 14.5 pounds. He is quiet and affectionate at home, loves naps and car rides, and becomes happy and energetic on walks. This fun little companion enjoys hiking, can walk up to 3 miles, and is beginning to play with toys and balls.
Ideal Home
Moki may prefer being the only dog, though he may do well with gentle, small dogs introduced peacefully. He can become overwhelmed by large dogs and may bark when he sees dogs on leash. He does well with one cat in his foster home, keeps his distance from another, and may be cat selective. Older children are recommended because Moki can be mouthy.
A patient adopter should give Moki time to warm up and build trust. He will likely bond closely with his caregiver.
Ongoing Health
Moki has a malignant thyroid mass that was recently checked and is not spreading. Treatment is not recommended at this time, but he will need follow-up with his adopter’s family veterinarian. Dogs with similarly slow-growing tumors may live comfortably for months or more without clinical signs. He has also had a dental cleaning and many extractions.
Training & Support
Moki does not need to be crated and knows “sit.” He is learning additional commands and would benefit from continued training and socialization to help him feel confident in different situations.
