Meet Doc!
Looking for a tiny best friend with a huge personality? This adorable 8-year-old, 5-pound Affenpinscher mix may only have one eye and four teeth, but don't let that fool you—he's full of life, love, and plenty of spunky charm. After having his painful eye removed due to glaucoma and getting a dental, Doc is feeling better than ever and is ready to find the family he's been waiting for. He is loyal, affectionate, independent, intelligent, and quirky.
Doc has a big personality packed into a tiny body. He won't hand over his heart on the first meeting—but give him a little patience, a few treats, and the chance to build trust, and you'll gain the most devoted little companion. Once you've become his person, he'll happily follow you from room to room, curl up beside you on the couch, play a game of fetch, or snuggle up next to you in bed. Because of his limited vision, Doc startles easily and doesn't like being picked up unexpectedly. When he feels scared, he may try to nip—but it's fear, not aggression. With only four teeth, if he nips, it's not much of a concern, and once he knows and trusts you, he's a loving little gentleman. Gentle handling, allowing him to approach you first, and using a harness when needed help him feel safe and confident.
Ideal Home
Doc's dream home would be calm and predictable, where he can be the center of someone's world. A quiet adult home where someone is home most of the time would be ideal.
Ongoing Health
Doc recently had his eye removed due to glaucoma and had a dental procedure. He is feeling much better!
Training & Support
Doc is making great progress with his house training and thrives on a consistent routine. He currently wears a belly band indoors because he may occasionally mark or have an accident if he isn't let outside in time. With patience and consistency, he continues to improve every day. He coexists peacefully with other dogs but prefers his own space over playtime.
