Mickie is a sweet and intelligent Chihuahua mix, approximately 2 years and 7 months old and weighing 18.7 lbs. He is a social butterfly who enjoys the company of people and other dogs. While he might be a little reserved initially, his true affectionate and playful nature shines through once he feels comfortable. Mickie loves to run, go for walks, and cuddle with his humans. He's obedient and eager to bond, making him a wonderful and loyal companion.
Ideal Home
Mickie would thrive in a home with an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. A fenced backyard is a must for him to explore and play safely. He would do best in a home with experience in dog behavior and training, or with a family willing to hire a trainer to help him reach his full potential. Families with a deep understanding and high tolerance for the unique needs of rescued animals will be a great fit for Mickie.
Ongoing Health
Mickie is up-to-date on all his health protocols, including spay/neuter, vaccinations (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), deworming, and is microchipped. He has tested negative for heartworm and 4DX. He is on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (Nexgard Spectra).
Training & Support
Mickie is not house-trained, which is common for many rescued pets. He is described as obedient and eager to learn, but he will require patience and consistency in his training. It is important to understand that rescued dogs may need an adjustment period to a new environment and people. Patience, a safe and loving environment, and establishing a routine are crucial for helping Mickie build trust and feel secure.

Transporation
Mickie is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on a cross-country trip. Door-to-door delivery is available for an additional transport fee of $400 USD. This service includes scheduled trips (3-4 per year), a contracted transport company, all necessary legal documents (transport contract, USDA health certificate, health protocol certificates), and real-time updates during the journey. For US adoptions, pets are escorted across the border into Texas. For Canadian adoptions, pets are delivered to the nearest US-Canada border.
