Roko is a happy-go-lucky bulldog mix with a strut that will steal your heart! This 60-pound charmer is unbothered by loud neighbors or busy streets, preferring to soak up attention from people. He's a food-motivated fellow who enjoys treats and mealtime equally. While generally easy-going, Roko can be a bit possessive of his favorite toys, so a tasty bribe might be needed to negotiate. He's not one to actively chase children, and he might even take a shine to them if he discovers they're good sources of snacks. Roko previously shared a home with his buddy Ralphie and showed incredible loyalty, never leaving his side even when Ralphie was unable to walk. Despite a rough start in life, being found abandoned on a country road with injuries, Roko remains a well-mannered and sweet companion.
Ideal Home
Roko would thrive in a home that offers a good balance of structure and relaxation. He enjoys playing in cooler temperatures and is perfectly content snoozing on the sofa during your favorite shows. A secure, fenced yard with plenty of shade is a must, and a doggie door would be a fantastic bonus! While he enjoys company, he can also be left alone outside for periods, though he might test the fence if left for too long. He's generally good with other dogs and has shown no negative reactions to barking from neighboring dogs. He would do well in a multi-person household. Young children who might climb on him would not be an ideal situation. He travels well in the car, but a ramp or boost may be needed for taller vehicles.
Ongoing Health
Roko is up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and has been treated for parasites. He will be neutered soon. As a brachycephalic breed, Roko has a low tolerance for heat and should be kept indoors when temperatures exceed 70 degrees Fahrenheit. His white coat may also require sunscreen for extended outdoor exposure.
Training & Support
Roko is house-trained and walks well on a leash. Putting on his harness and collar can be a bit of a process due to past injuries, but with positive reinforcement, this should improve. He's not a big barker, so don't expect him to be a guard dog; his protective instincts are likely limited to tripping potential intruders with his "solid potato body."
