Meet Benson! He's a gentle, five-year-old mixed breed with a heart full of loyalty and devotion. Benson is a large, 75-pound boy with a beautiful cream coat and soulful eyes that hint at his sensitive nature. He's a constant companion, happiest when he's by your side, whether on a car ride, lounging by the window, or snuggling up for a quiet evening. Benson is a smart cookie and knows an impressive list of commands, including "sit," "stay," "come," and even "kisses" and "snuggle"! His favorite activities include chasing balls, playing enrichment games, swimming, and enjoying a good chew. While Benson can be a little shy around new people and loud noises, he's incredibly loving and attentive once he warms up. He's a natural comforter, always ready to lean in or curl up beside you when you need it most.
Ideal Home
Benson would thrive in a calm, structured environment with a securely fenced yard that is at least six feet tall, as he has been known to jump fences. He needs a home where he can feel safe, supported, and understood. He is not compatible with cats and needs an adult-only home.
Ongoing Health
Benson requires daily medication to manage his allergies and support his emotional balance.
Training & Support
Benson can be sensitive to sudden movements or sounds and may take a couple of minutes to warm up to new people. He walks well overall but can pull on the leash, so continued guidance and positive reinforcement training will help him stay focused. Benson is selective with other dogs and can be reactive with unfamiliar ones. While he has experience living with multiple dogs, there has been increasing tension with one particular dog in the home that led to a physical altercation. Because of this, Benson would thrive as the only dog in a home or with a caregiver who can provide very structured, gradual introductions supported by positive reinforcement training.
