MAVERICK

Maverick is a young dog who was found surviving on his own in the West Alton area. He was incredibly fearful and avoided people, making his rescue a challenging endeavor. Ernie and Tracy dedicated 30 days to patiently and persistently working to gain his trust and safely trap him. Maverick's resilience and journey to safety show how much he mattered to those who fought for him. He is now beginning to learn that he doesn't have to be afraid anymore, and with the help of staff spending quiet time with him, he's slowly starting to come out of his shell. Maverick finds comfort and confidence when around other dogs and shows no interest in cats.

Ideal Home

Maverick needs a patient and quiet home where he can continue to build his confidence. He requires a secure fenced yard and would do best with older children (15+). A confident, resident dog companion would be ideal to help him feel more secure.

Ongoing Health

Maverick has no known ongoing health concerns at this time.

Training & Support

Maverick is still overcoming his fear of unfamiliar things, noises, and sudden changes. Patience, understanding, and a gentle approach are key to his continued progress. It's beneficial for him to have a confident dog friend to help him feel more at ease.
