Dixie

Meet Dixie! She's a sweet 3-year-old Dachshund-Yorkshire Terrier mix who weighs about 7 pounds, but her foster parents think she'd be happiest closer to 12-14 pounds. Dixie arrived at the shelter after experiencing severe neglect and is understandably emaciated. Despite her tough start, she remains a friendly girl who is most focused on enjoying her meals. She's currently on a special feeding schedule of 4-6 meals a day to help her system safely re-adjust to food, and she gobbles up every bite!

Ideal Home

Dixie is working on her weight gain and will need a patient and loving home that can continue her special feeding plan.

Ongoing Health

Dixie is currently underweight due to neglect. She will need time to gain weight, and once she is healthy enough, she will be spayed. Her overall health is good, and she is being closely monitored by her foster parents.

Training & Support

Dixie is hesitant to put on a harness, but once it's on, she walks beautifully on a leash for potty breaks outside. She is not yet house-trained.

Transporation

Dixie is currently in a foster home in Norfolk, VA. Transportation can be arranged to approved adopters.
