Meet Norman!
Norman is a snuggly four-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix. He's a gentle, goofy soul who lives for cuddles, comfy dog beds, and quality time with his people. Nicknamed the “velvet hippo,” he’s a classic couch potato with a silly streak—often flopping onto his back mid-snuggle just to flash you his best “aren’t I adorable?” grin. Walks, training games, and belly rubs top his list of favorite things, and he absolutely shines when given love and structure. Norman's routine is flexible, and he’s happy as long as he’s got someone to nap near and a little mental stimulation each day. He’s 73 pounds and has charming tortilla chip-shaped ears. Norman is currently with his foster family and will remain with them until he finds his perfect match.
Ideal Home
Norman does best living in a calm, structured environment with a secure, fenced yard. He needs a home without small children. He is compatible with older, respectful children and some dogs, provided introductions are slow and managed carefully.
Ongoing Health
Norman is up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped. He has no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Norman is crate trained, house-trained, and knows several commands including “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “place,” and he’s currently mastering “leave it.” He responds well to positive reinforcement and consistency. Norman can be selective with both dogs and new people and has shown reactivity in certain situations. While he's never displayed people-reactivity inside the home, he needs careful introductions and continued guidance when meeting new people outside. His adoption includes four professional training sessions and a full month of behavioral guidance from a consultant to help support a smooth transition. Continued obedience training and positive reinforcement will help him stay confident and successful on walks.
