Meet Django!
This bright, two-year-old mixed breed is a handsome boy with a sleek black coat accented with white. He's about 50 pounds and possesses a curious and thoughtful nature. Django is an active, intelligent companion who forms deep bonds with his people, greeting them with enthusiastic celebration after any absence. He's the kind of dog who thrives on both connection and having a job to do. Django loves to cuddle and lean in for affection, curling up for cozy naps once he feels secure with his family.
Adventure is just as important to Django! He's a big fan of toys and enjoys games of fetch with balls, sticks, and frisbees. He loves walks, runs, and even swimming, and proudly carries a stick or ball during his outings as if it's his important job. His intelligence shines through in his eagerness to learn and train. Django already knows many cues, including sit, stay, down, come, heel, place, leave it, drop it, no bark, and ok as a release cue. Practicing these skills with positive reinforcement keeps his mind engaged and happy.
Ideal Home
Django would thrive in a quieter home environment, free of children and cats, and likely as the only dog. He needs an active family who understands reactive dogs and enjoys training.
Ongoing Health
Django currently takes daily Fluoxetine to help manage anxiety.
Training & Support
Django experiences fear-based reactivity in certain situations, including unfamiliar noises, unexpected distractions, and other dogs encountered on leash. He requires thoughtful management in public and benefits from a predictable routine and continued behavior support from an experienced pet parent. He also has a history of resource guarding with another dog around food, toys, or personal space. Meeting guests outside first and allowing him to warm up helps him feel secure. With structure, exercise, and patient guidance, he continues to grow in confidence.
