Retired Racing Greyhounds Only

We are Make Peace With Animals, a dedicated all-volunteer organization that has been passionate about finding loving homes for retired racing Greyhounds since 1988. We've proudly placed over 5,500 ex-racers, and our founder, Cynthia Branigan, authored the pioneering book "Adopting the Racing Greyhound," now in its third edition. Every first-time adopter receives a copy to help ensure a smooth transition for their new companion, and we offer lifelong support, including the option to take a dog back if an adoption doesn't work out. While the number of racing tracks has decreased, the demand for these wonderful dogs as companions remains strong. We often have a waiting list of potential adopters, and many of our incoming Greyhounds find homes before they are even listed. While we strive to find the perfect match for every dog, we generally find that Greyhounds do best in homes without cats or other small dogs. We're still actively looking for wonderful families for former racers and encourage you to apply soon if you're ready to open your heart and home to a Greyhound.

Training & Support

We provide a copy of the book "Adopting the Racing Greyhound" with each adoption to help guide you. Make Peace With Animals offers lifetime support for adopters, providing advice or taking back the dog if the adoption does not work out.
