About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound/retriever mix with a heart of gold. He was rescued from the streets and taken in by our rescue, where he's been living in a foster home and blossoming into a truly wonderful companion. Comet, also known as Buddy, is a resilient and adaptable dog who is eager to find his forever family. He has a medium-high energy level and loves to zoom around, but he's also incredibly affectionate and enjoys cuddling.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with a resident dog sibling to play and snuggle with. He has also done well with indoor cats and children, though we recommend a home with children aged 10 and older who can understand and respect animal behavior cues, as he does have a bit of a herding instinct. Comet adores his foster dad, but he can be a bit wary of men. Patience and consistency from his new family will help him build trust and become comfortable.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy who has received all age-appropriate vaccinations and is neutered.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. He doesn't pull on the leash and sleeps soundly in his crate at night without any whining. He's also learned to alert his fosters when he needs to go potty. While he doesn't seem to have separation anxiety, he is crated when unsupervised due to his tendency to explore with his mouth. Comet is eager to please and easy to train, responding well to positive reinforcement.
