Handsome Billy is a 4.5-year-old miniature Australian shepherd with a heart full of love and a personality that's both playful and goofy! He adores giving hugs, soaking up pets from his people, chasing frisbees, and enjoying a good swim or hike. Billy is also a smart cookie, having completed three obedience classes, and he's a master of tricks and recall. He's house-trained, kennel-trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. While he can be a little shy with strangers at first, he warms up quickly and is especially fond of women, though he accepts men too. He came to us from a loving home where he was adopted as a puppy, but sadly, he's been experiencing some challenges living with other dogs due to resource guarding. His devoted owners are making the difficult but loving decision to find him a home where he can truly thrive.
Ideal Home
Billy would be happiest in a home without children, as he can be wary of them. The ideal situation for Billy would be a home where he can be the only dog, or a home where his resource guarding can be managed with expertise. He is good with cats.

Billy is healthy, up to date on all vaccinations, and has no known health conditions.
Training & Support
Billy is a well-trained dog who is obedient with commands once he trusts someone. His main area of concern is resource guarding food, toys, people, and places from other dogs. While he usually gets along great with other dogs, about 5% of the time, he resource guards, leading to conflicts. He is not aggressive all the time. His current family has tried to manage this in a multi-dog household, but it has been unsuccessful, leading to the decision to find him a new home.
